Woolworths opened their 12th Irish store in April 1952 in the historic town of Wexford.

If you have a read of Kevin’s post here, you can read about the mysterious tunnel that led from the basement to Wexford Harbour. The building has a lot of history, as does the whole town which dates to medieval times.
Another post has been written by Wexford Hub, which you can read here. It talks about ghost stories at the store “…Former staff members of Woolworths have said that they saw the dark outline of a man wearing a cloak (believed to be the ghost of Oliver Cromwell)…”
Woolworths traded here for just over 30 years, as all Irish stores were closed down in 1984. Today you will find Penneys (aka Primark) in the building. Can you spot any Woolworths features?
