116 – 118 Market Street, Atherton, Manchester
Woolworths opened in Atherton in 1952 in a former billiards hall. Unfortunately there are no photos of the building as a Woolworths. It was only open for 2 or 3 decades, as it’s not listed on the 1995 store list.
A Kwik Save opened afterwards. In this 1984 photo, it may possibly say ‘Woolworths store closed’ on the doors, but it’s too blurry to make out. *EDIT The poster mentions May bank holiday dates and may be about Kwik Save being closed on those dates. The Woolworths store closed before 1984.

Today the Post Office is in the building. This photo is from the blog “If Those Walls Could Talk”

The poster on the door Relates to the May Bank Holidays In 1984, Mon 7th and Mon 29th, sollikely refer to Kwik Save being closed those days

Ahh yes, now you say that, I’ve looked again at the photo and I can make out the bank holiday dates. Thank you

I started April 1984, and it wasn’t a Woolworths store at that time.
