Hunstanton Woolworths – Store 811 – Woolies Buildings

8-16 High Street, Hunstanton, Norfolk PE36 5AG

Woolworths opened in the seaside town of Hunstanton in 1953. It was a large store that traded from this location for 55 years.

Below are a couple of memories from shopping at Hunstanton Woolworths.

30 years ago – first album I ever bought, aged 11, on cassette from Woolworths in Hunstanton. Listened to it on my Walkman all the way round the sea life centre.

Once saw Don in Woolworths, Hunstanton. Stood on an upturned crate belting out some tunes promoting his latest album . Large pile of cassette tapes next to him for sale.

Hunstanton Woolworths closed in December 2008.

After initially becoming a Warehouse Clearance Shop, M&Co then moved in, and it is still trading there today.

Plans have now been so bmitted for the division of the store into 2 unots following the demise of M&Co., the linked article contains an old photo of the store as Woolies
