Woolworths opened in Chigwell in 1954. It was known as the “Hainault” store when it opened, but by the 1970s it was known as “Chigwell” store. Ron Watson was manager from 1974-78.
The store traded here for 54 years, closing in December 2008. Today you’ll find a Nisa Extra in its place.
