Woolworths opened in the market town of Newport in Shropshire in 1934, originally at 77 High Street (you can glimpse the store on the left side of this photo).

In the early 1970s the store moved to 44-50 High Street.

It traded right until the end, after 74 years, closing on 30th December 2008. It became a B&M a few months later.
