Woolworths opened in Westmuir Street in Glasgow in 1955. You can see the store on the right of this photo. This was the eighth Woolworths store in Glasgow.

The store closed in the early 1980s, and I thought it would take me ages to hunt down what is in the building today, as it closed so long ago. Well, this has got to be the BEST former Woolworths store ever… it’s called Old Woolies Discount Store.

Woolies Buildings - Then and Now 
I pass this store most days, it still has the original Wooiwlorth floor tiles, pink and pale blue ones. Wooloworths did return to this area of Glasgow (Parkhead) when the Big W store opened at the retail park about ten minutes away.
