Woolworths opened in Stowmarket in 1952. The building they were in was formerly a coaching inn, and then a family business called Turner & Co.
The store was modernised, as you can see in the photo below.

The store lasted until the end, closing in December 2008.
Today Peacocks is in the former Woolies building.
